GED Test
Passing a GED test will earn you a diploma that is considered by many
academic institutions to be equivalent to a high school certificate.
This examination tests you on five specific topics: Mathematics (namely,
Geometry and Algebra), Science, Social Science, Language Arts - Reading
and Language Arts - Writing. Five subtests must be taken to cover all
the five topics and your General Educational Development test can take
up to five to seven hours to complete. You will be able to make three
attempts a year on the GEDs. This is useful for individuals who do not
pass the first or even second time around, or individuals who want to
improve on their overall score. GED testing centers can be
found all around the country and you will need to register for your test
in person, as well as to make payment for it. The eligibility criteria
for those interested in sitting for a GED may vary from area to area,
state to state. In essence, however, the General Educational Development
examination has been designed to give individuals who've missed out on
attaining a high school diploma, the opportunity to earn a certificate
of equivalent standing. As such, most people who sign up for this test
are adults. With a GED certificate, you will be recognized by most
colleges and universities as possessing high school level skills and
many graduates move on to successfully earn a Bachelor's degree or
higher. This educational milestone can also help you open doors in your
career. If you are serious about becoming a GED graduate, you should
also be just as serious in preparing for the test. While many consider
these tests easier than those taken in high school, you should not
neglect hard work and effort put into your preparation. The GEDs place
great emphasis on measuring one's skills in thinking and ability to put
acquired knowledge into practical application. Get a hold of practice
tests to help you familiarize yourself with the structure and
presentation of question you can expect in an actual GED test.
Doing this will also give you a fairly good idea on the standard
required as well as how much more you will need to study. Setting aside
regular study time and taking your preparation seriously will play an
important part in passing this all-important exam.
