GED Practice Test

Taking the GEDs requires thinking and practical application skills, skills that most of us adults are already equipped with to manage everyday living. However, you cannot bank on passing your General Educational Development test with the practice of everyday life alone, these skills need to be sharpened and honed with study programs, personal study and by going through GED practice test papers.

Taking these 'mock' tests can give you a pretty good idea of the type of questions, the format and the standard of questioning you can expect from the actual test. Many may find this high school equivalency test easier than the traditional high school examination because the GED tests emphasize greatly on thinking skills and the ability to apply knowledge rather than the accumulation of knowledge and the commitment of information to memory as is the focus of most high school tests.

There are five main subjects that you can expect to be tested on during a General Educational Development exam, these subjects are similar to those tested on in high school: Social Studies, Writing, Reading, Algebra and Geometry (or Mathematics) and Science. Unless you are already familiar with these topics and have daily practice of them, study programs will help you understand what you need to pass the test as well as help you learn or relearn new skills that might be required.

To maximize the effectiveness of taking a 'mock' test, you must take it seriously. This means that you have to do the test as if you are sitting for the actual one. As you familiarize yourself with the structure of the test and how questions are phrased and presented, you will also begin to understand your strengths and weaknesses in terms of answering these questions. Having this knowledge will allow you to build up your strengths and work on your weaknesses so that you can find the best way to answer actual test questions successfully.

The GED practice test will also help you determine how prepared you are to take the actual General Educational Development test and much time and effort you'll need to study for it.
